Best Beach Hotels in Tulum 2022

When we were looking for hotels in Tulum, we wanted a unique stay that was centrally located and affordable. There are so many choices, it’s insane. I swear we spent a month scouring the internet on Airbnb, Hotels.com, VRBO, Booking.com, etc. We looked far and wide. As soon as we stumbled upon Casa Nawal, we knew this was the one! Not only is it inside the National Park, but it was a mere 5 minute bike ride from the Tulum Ruins!

Read on to see the incredible views from Casa Nawal!

Popular Hotels in Tulum 2022

During our trip, we explored several other hotels by visiting their restaurants, bars, or beaches. The following lists some of our favorites:

Casa Nawal. Mayan Lodge. Tulum Mexico.

Casa Nawal

Casa Nawal is nestled in the heart of Tulum National Park and is right on the beach, Playa Maya. Paradise Beach is right next door! What’s so unique about this property is that they value your experience over luxury accommodations and because of this, offer oceanfront tents, small huts and cabin lodges.

The entire place echoes of jungle vibes. The entire property is on the beach so naturally the ground beneath you is fine, soft, pure-white sand.

What sets Casa Nawal apart is its quiet and serene vibes. Many other hotels we visited on the Tulum beach strip had a louder party-esque scene, which is great, if you’re into that sort of thing. However, we prefer to stay at chill places and party at louder ones 😉

There are no TV’s in any of the stays at Casa Nawal but there is free Wi-Fi.

Traveler tip: If you want a tent like ours, be sure to book the Mayan Lodge. Read more below about our room features

The Rooms

Casa Nawal has multiple room types. We stayed in the Mayan Lodge. If you want to feel disconnected from the outside world and live like a minimalist, THIS is the room, tent lol, you need! The properly only has a handful of lodges such as these. They are outfitted with net hammocks that hang in between the jungle trees. You can find shared daybeds scattered throughout the property. We’ve stayed in luxury tents before and this one did not disappoint either. Imagine our excitement when we found them in Tulum! The air conditioner was key during the hot Tulum nights.

Looking for somewhere else to stay? Find your hotel with the map below.

The Mayan Lodge has a queen bed, clothes rack, extra blankets, daily housekeeping, and A+ service. The staff is only a whatsapp text away.

The View

There’s nothing quite as magical as waking up to the sun rising above the Mayan Jungle! The beach is only a few steps away. Enjoy breakfast at IKAL and just relax.

At night, we watched the sky light up with a million stars. Since the Tulum beach is distanced from the city, there is very little light pollution. This really is the perfect place to star gaze and feel small in this magnificent universe.

Common Spaces

When we weren’t exploring Tulum and the surrounding region, you could find us relaxing at the Casa Nawal beach with mezcalitas! Mezcalitas are like margaritas, only better!

The property has several experiences, for an extra charge, that you can take part in. Some of these experiences include, renting a bicycle or scooter, ancestral therapies and massages.

Food and Drink

Casa Nawal has a full-service bar where you can order drinks and cocktails, but they don’t have a restaurant. They do have a partnership with a high-end neighboring restaurant called Maia, which is apart of IKAL Hotel. Their food is pricey since you are right on the beach, but it was tasty. Below you can see chicken enchiladas de mole negro, a mezcalita and a stuffed poblano chile.
