From wine tasting at local vineyards to hiking along volcanic landscapes, Santorini offers a tapestry of experiences that will ignite your senses and leave you longing for more.

1. Boat Tour Cruise

Climb aboard the 74-foot Ocean Voyager or the 80-foot Tahiti catamaran for a 5-hour cruise around Santorini in the Aegean Sea. Set off on a journey of discovery that will first take you to the hot springs, then the Red Beach, and finally the White Beach. Swim and snorkel and tuck into a delicious meal onboard.

Start your adventure with a comfortable hotel pickup and set sail for beautiful Red Beach (picture below) to swim and snorkel.

Continue to a secluded White Beach, only accessible from the sea, for more swimming and snorkeling in the shadow of the towering white cliffs. Onboard the catamaran, savor a barbecue supper of salads and grilled meat and veggie options.

Buy a ticket in advance to make sure that you have a ticket for the specific day you want to go.

2. Lunch & Cliff Dive at Amoudi Bay

One of the Top 10 Things to do in Santorini is a stop at Amoudi Bay. Amoudi Bay is the hidden jewel of Santorini. And, while finding it can be a little challenging, it’s well worth the effort. This harbor has great seaside taverns and also one of the best places to swim in Santorini.

Did I mention that cliff jumping and swimming are FREE?!

Don’t miss the offshore Amoudi Rock for some excellent cliff diving. The plunge is around 22ft off the water so it’s not for the faint of heart but the thrill is exhilarating!

Below is a secret map of how to get to the swimming area and the 50 meter swim to Amoudi Bay Rock known as Nisis Agios.

3. Visit Red Beach

Prepare to be mesmerized by the striking beauty of Red Beach in Santorini, a natural wonder that will leave you breathless. As you step onto the volcanic shores, you’ll be greeted by vibrant hues of red and orange, created by the unique mineral-rich sands.

Immerse yourself in the crystal-clear waters, letting the gentle waves caress your skin. The towering red cliffs that surround the beach create a dramatic backdrop, adding to the allure and creating a truly magical ambiance.

Whether you choose to bask in the sun, snorkel among colorful marine life, or simply take in the awe-inspiring views, a day at Red Beach is an experience that will transport you to a world of wonder.

You may be wondering how much it costs to visit Red Beach?

Visiting Red Beach in Santorini is generally free of charge.

There is no official entrance fee to access the beach itself.

If you plan to rent sunbeds and umbrellas, which are available for a fee, the cost can vary depending on the season and the specific beachside establishments.

Additionally, there may be charges for parking in nearby areas, should you choose to arrive by car or scooter.

4. Hike to Skaros Rock

Embark on an unforgettable hiking adventure to Skaros Rock in Santorini. Your hike to the Skaros rock starts in Imerovigli and the church of Agios Georgios (Saint George). The church is the perfect place for preparation and relaxation before the hiking. The Skaros Rock Hike is definitely one of the top 10 things do in Santorini. And, it’s also FREE.

This iconic landmark perched atop a dramatic cliff offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the island’s picturesque caldera. As you navigate the winding path (see picture below), you’ll be immersed in the island’s natural beauty, passing by charming villages and vineyards along the way.

The reward at the end of the trail is truly awe-inspiring, with the opportunity to witness a magical sunset or simply soak in the awe-inspiring vistas.

5. Horseback Ride

Saddle up and embark on a breathtaking journey through the enchanting landscapes of Santorini on horseback. Feel the wind in your hair as you trot along the winding paths that lead you to hidden treasures and panoramic views.

Ride along the shores of Vlichada on horseback and take in the views of this volcanic beach. Stop for photos and enjoy the support of an on-hand guide.

Begin your horse riding adventure by having an expert show you the basics with all the necessary equipment. After starting your journey at the magical dunes of Caldera Beach, head to the Santorini fields to admire the unblemished beauty of nature, taking in panoramic views of the Aegean Sea.

Next, your path will lead you to the black beach of Vlichada, where you’ll ride along the shoreline dipping in and out of the water’s edge. Here you’ll have the chance to stop and take photos of the surrounding landscape and appreciate the picturesque sand dunes all around. Finally, you’ll continue along a route that takes you back to your stable, finishing your journey where you began but enriched with memories that will last a lifetime.

6. Take a Cooking Class

One of the top 10 things to do in Santorini is a traditional Greek cooking class. I try to book a cooking class in every country that I visit. If you know, you know!

I have loved cooking classes in Greece, Spain, Thailand and Italy. In fact, there hasn’t been a cooking class I have not enjoyed!

Cook a 4-course meal with a chef, based on the Cycladic and Mediterranean cuisine in Santorini. Wander in the brewery and then feast on a full meal with a craft beer while enjoying the scenery.

Just make sure to bring an appetite!

7. Fira to Oia Hike for Sunset

Take an epic journey along the famed caldera and prepare for a sunset experience like no other.

Lace up your hiking boots and set off on a thrilling adventure that will lead you through Santorini’s captivating landscapes.

As you traverse the scenic path, you’ll witness the island’s rugged cliffs, charming villages, and the azure expanse of the Aegean Sea. But the true magic begins as the golden hour approaches and the sun begins its descent.

With every step, anticipation builds, and your heart races in sync with the fiery hues painting the sky.

As you reach the final stretch, Oia’s iconic blue-domed churches come into view, setting the stage for a sunset spectacle that will leave you in awe.

Just make sure to leave Fira in plenty of time to stop and catch your breath, take photos and enjoy the walk… it’s farther than you think!

Best of all, this activity is FREE. HECK YES!

8. Luxury Catamaran Sail

Take in amazing views on a luxury cruise from Santorini. A luxury cruise is surely one of the top 10 things to do in Santorini!

Explore the clear Mediterranean waters of the Santorini Caldera on a brand new Lagoon 450 catamaran. Make 2 swimming and snorkeling stops, then feast on a barbecue meal.

Once out on the water, the first stop of the tour will be a 30-minute visit to Red Beach, so named for its bright sand. After some relaxed swimming and great snorkeling, get back aboard the sailboat and continue to White Beach, featuring equally striking rock colors and more excellent swimming and snorkeling.

After swimming, the crew members will serve a delicious barbecue meal onboard. From there, take some time to take in the views from the beach before sailing past the beautiful uninhabited islands of Aspronissi and Akrotiri.

The tour’s last stop will be at the hot springs for 30 minutes of relaxation, with the chance to go for a soak in the springs. The tour finishes at the port where you’ll board a minibus for a transfer.

9. Akrotiri Lighthouse at Sunset

Experience an unforgettable sunset at the Akrotiri Lighthouse in Akrotiri, Santorini.

Drive, ATV or catch a cab to one of the best places on the southern island for a gorgeous sunset.

The lighthouse was first established in 1892 to guide ships safely through the treacherous waters of the Aegean Sea. Standing tall at 11 meters (36 feet) high, the lighthouse served as a beacon of hope for sailors navigating the challenging coastline of Santorini.

In recent times, the lighthouse has been renovated and restored, preserving its architectural charm and historical significance. Today, it stands as a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding volcanic landscape. As you stand by the Akrotiri Lighthouse, you can’t help but feel a connection to the island’s maritime past and the brave sailors who relied on its guiding light.

You will find many locals and tourists here, as this is a popular spot!

So, get there early, grab a spot on the rocks with a blanket and wine and prepare to be amazed!
